Labour Councillor for Tokyngton Ward Joyce Bacchus has obtained figures from the Council on the number of people on the waiting list for allotments. The waiting list has increased from 219 under Labour to 620 under the Lib Dem led administration. Meanwhile, no new allotments have been provided.
Councillor Bacchus said:
“At a time when we are encouraging people to take action to reduce carbon emissions, we should be helping people to grow their own food. Allotment holders are the original environmentalists and we need more of them”.
