Councillor Ellis has his own version of BC and AD nalmey BE and AE – Before Ellis and After Ellis. His messianic qualities are so profound that surely the County Council must re-date its calendar.Nothing before he arrived in his Cabinet post in June 2009 worked in social care and health – even though the same excellent managers are there. He implied that Health Scrutiny hadn’t worked before that time when he gave evidence to the Mid Staffs Inquiry (even though he had had very little to do with it). He likes to forget that he and his Tory and Lib Dem colleagues (they certainly don’t scrutinise any more at SCC so they must be colleagues) voted against the necessary changes to Social Care and Health services – and also, let’s not forget, he voted against the a319.1 million Labour invested in the service for our older people and disabled people. He’s not reopened a single care home and in fact he even closed one more recently!Respite charges for some service users has doubled as has the cost for meals on wheels, and social care services and they now charge for travel to day centres and so on. Joined up work with the Health Service and other bodies like the Fire Service were started under the Labour Administration and this has continued under the Coalition government.Governments need to grasp the nettle of the real cost of care for the elderly that gives them independence, dignity and security.
I am more concerned that 100,000 people are dying each year in britain from smoking related diseases and yet smoking is something that is legalized by politicians.
so how you expect people to take you seriously when you point the finger at your fellow politicians who also deliberatly remain silent even though they should crying literally from the roof tops about the immense ammounts of deaths from cancer in this country.
it sickens me to know that the people that are running the country are blood thirsty greed driven hypocrites.
yes Cllr Hirani that is how I view you politicians...you certainly would expect to recieve praise from me when again you politicians overlook a systematic abuse of the public and all for the sake of money.
why or why do we have to live under hypocrites who operate with double standards?
yes cllr while you condemn the lib dem torys council for raking in immense amounts in car parking charges, why do you remain silent about the immense ammount that is raked in from the sale of cigarettes that is causing 100.000 people to die every year?
isn't that worse than a council expoliting local residents over car parking charges.

Many thanks for the information so quickly and posting it so people can link to it. I found the Labour vote solid, and it is good to see the Green vote switching to Labour. Unfortunately it is worrying if there is a "coalition" effect with Tories voting tactically to keep the Liberal Democrats in. Commiserations to Parvez Ahmed an excellent candidate.
