Another highlight from this years Labour Party Conference came from an unlikely source. Lord Mandelson historically has not been the most liked individual in the Labour Party but at this conference speech I think we all saw a side of Lord Mandelson that we have never seen before!
It was an inspirational speech and a great reminder as to why I have stuck with the Labour Party despite the hardships in recent times.
At the local level, in both Brent and Harrow, the Conservatives and the Lib Dems have actively been going to community centres to try and push Black Asian and Faith Centre leaders to represent them at local elections. I have been approached myself by one of these Parties.
However, something that Mandelson said in this speech rung true to me and I hope would have to all Labour Party members; “I didn’t chose this Party I was born into it”. There is something within our members which I see everyday at the grassroots level that provides us with a compelling force to do good and serve the people.
