Lib Dem Councillors attack Coalition Government for local government cuts

80 senior Lib Dem Councillors across the country have spoken out against the Coalition spending plans, saying that they are too much and too fast.  Brent is being forced to cut £104 million out of a budget of £260 million over the next four years.

  1. Spineless local Lib Dems, however, refuse to join the call for the cuts to be scaled back or slowed down. They try to hijack any protest movement (Kensal Rise library, Charteris Sports Centre) merely to attack the council. If they really wanted to save such services from closure, surely they should be lobbying Nick Clegg for more cash or more time. No, they won’t do that – because that would involve more than mere posturing…
