Last chance to register to vote on Monday

Residents in Brent have one last chance to get themselves onto the electoral register in time for the general election, as the registration deadline of 11:59pm on Monday 22 May fast approaches.

Anyone not yet registered to vote is being urged by the council to do so this weekend and consider whether they will have their say by post, proxy or in person at the polls.

You can have your say by post, proxy or in person on polling day but of course, in order to vote you must first be registered. You can register to vote online vie the following LINK

Labour candidates in Brent are Tulip Siddiq for Hampstead and Kilburn, Dawn Butler for Brent Central and Barry Gardiner for Brent North. All three are local MPs and live in the constituencies they represent. They have been fighting hard for us in Parliament whilst the Tories as well as Lib Dems have been disproportionately cutting the funding available to Brent’s health, social care, police and fire brigade services.

The right to vote

The Government is making it harder to get people to register to vote. The system where one individual in a household can register all members is changing to a system where people have to register individually.

I fear for the impact on getting young people, in particular, just registered to vote. Keep an eye out for any correspondence you receive from the Council about voter registration. make sure you register
